New website

Camas roots has a new web home. We are currently 'under construction.'

Winter 2009

We lost most of the winter crops we had started. Current plans are to get the greenhouse up in March.

AmeriCorps/LINKS

We have an opening for an AmeriCorps/ LINKS participant to help with the garden, earn tuition credit and participate in a learning experience.

                                   Our Vision

Curriculum Connections

Integrate garden activities with a range of learning topics such as math, science, art, literature and nutrition across a wide variety of participating classes.

  Service Learning

The garden is a site for service learning that offers participants (students, youth offenders and others) the opportunity to contribute to their community, develop a strong work ethic and increase self esteem.

  Community Building

Create a space that promotes civic pride and encourages residents of all ages to work together.

"Camas Roots"

We chose the name "Camas Roots" in honor of the Camas Lily (Camassia quamash), a native plant that flowers in our town's meadows each spring.  Native Americans used the root of the Camas Lily for sustenance.
